What's with the weird characters?
You've no doubt noticed the strange characters in one of the posts on this board. At the time I'm writing this, I see what appears to be a pair of Chinese characters. This was not the case when I first made the post. I wrote out the word "cafe", with the usual accent over the "e", inserting this nonstandard character by cut and paste. This hs seemed to work on a number of webpages, at least in windows running Internet Explorer, and still does, ruling out any obscure change in IE as the cause. It worked on this forum until recently, but all of a sudden, where there was readable text, there is now a brief stretch of gibberish. I think - I hope - that you can still make out my meaning from context, but this result is displeasing, regardless. Please be aware that this is happening, and confine yourself to using the standard character set. (26 english letters, the 10 numberals, etc.) So far, whatever the glitch is, it doesn't seem to be a problem as far as those characters are concerned. But as for writing to Bravenet about the problem, this is a free provider, so I think that you can guess the kind of attention that I could expect were I to report this. Realistically, a brush-off would be the best I could hope for. We can only do what we can do, right? Sigh.
