Toot Your Own Horn: A Burning Man mini-event
Recently, I wrote a page for the Café Satan site entitled "The Seven Deadly Sins: Have you been putting them off?". One of those events was something called "Toot Your Own Horn" which, strange as it might seem, grew out of the concept of a webboard that somehow got deleted. Here's the message which explained that board, and in part, might help explain the event: What to post on this board On the simplest level, a post about a victory on stage would make a good post. "A victory on stage? You mean like an award winning performance?" No, awards are about winning a competition with other actors. The kind of victory I'm talking about is one you win when you feel that you've grown in some way as an artist - you've triumphed over your own limitations, not over other people. And then there are the performances we put on in real life, as we deal with the characters around us. Those are good, too. Think of this as online green room chatter, but let's keep it light. There are plenty of places where people can get snarky or critical online. We're here to celebrate and kid around a little bit, and just generally relax. Hope you have fun. |
