Message:   I had have left hip surgery 3 times. The last time was in January of 2004 and they only replaced the polyethylene liner and head. Every since I have had significant pain on my right lower side of my back in the lower flank area. I recently read the operative report from this last surgery, and it stated "There has previously been a fixed internal deformity and this was corrected by release of the anterior capsule." I was born with a dislocated hip and have already turned my foot in significantly. I am 49 years told never ever had a minutes back pain until after this surgery. The pain is only on the right side opposite of the left hip where surgery was performed. On CT scans recently it shows a fairly signifcant atrophy of the left pyriformis muscle and hypertropy and a bulging appearance of the right pyriformis muscle. Could this enlarged right pyriformis muscle been causing this constant pain in my lower right back because they fixed my internal rotation deformity release of the anterior capsule? I am desperate for an answer. I am in constant pain. Can anyone provide any insight or help?
