Question for the Apprentices

Around April this year, I am going to have two paintings that will be (I believe) dry enough and safe to varnish. I remember a couple of conversations from the class as to different things that can be used to do so, (i.e., Galkyd, etc). What I cant remember is if there was a more preferred method over the others. Anyone have any suggestions?

Happy New Year, by the way... ;)

Re: Question for the Apprentices

So far all I've done is use the spray on retouching varnish, it's the intermediate varnish when you just finished it and it's not been drying for a year. So I'm sure that's not terribly useful...

Re: Question for the Apprentices

I usually go with Damar. Just because it sounds like an evil minion...

Re: Re: Question for the Apprentices

It WAS an evil Minion, or did you never watch Star Trek: Deep Space 9? :)

Re: Re: Re: Question for the Apprentices

Wow, you got me. Ok, you're quite right. And if varnish was a lifeform, I guess it'd be a Cardassian. It'll turn on you in a second.

(Ok, you can give me my geek license back...)
