Most probably I would imagine. The names of McGovern. McGauran, and even some cases of the name 'Summers' originated from the gaelic Mag Shamhradhain. Shamhradhain means summer, and would be pronounced somewhat like Sowdran or Sowran. That was then changed to Magauran or Mag Gauran, which was originally pronounced as 'Gowran.'
