Most probably I would imagine. The names of McGovern. McGauran, and even some cases of the name 'Summers' originated from the gaelic Mag Shamhradhain. Shamhradhain means summer, and would be pronounced somewhat like Sowdran or Sowran. That was then changed to Magauran or Mag Gauran, which was originally pronounced as 'Gowran.' Your name probably derives from this. Hope this helps.

MY GRAND FATHER WAS HARRY G McGAURAN.

I FOUND SOME INFO RELATING,AND DATING BACK TO THE 1600'S,OF "BALLY MAGARUAN" IN CAVAN,CO.,IRELAND....

IS THIS TRUE?..AND WHAT OTHER NAMES ARE THE SAME FAMILY AS McGAURAN?....
