I am not sure I understand your question. The expropriation process is widely used across Canada at the present time to acquire land, mostly for public works projects.



Expropriation generally describes the legal process by which property is taken without the owner's consent but subject to an obligation to pay compensation. Confiscation on the other hand describes the taking of property without consent but also without payment of compensation.

I am working on a paper regarding Expropriation and Confiscation, I want to know about the law of Expropriation and Confiscation, and want to know why Expropriation and Confiscation is not commonly use nowaday, and how can I replace the risk of expropriation and/or confiscation, and how government use other legislation to replace expropriation and confiscation.
