I am interested as to why certain owners who are being expropriated appear in the newspapers claiming they are being treated unfairly. I may be expropriated shortly, and wonder if they think that this approach will generate a higher offer from the government? Do the newspapers ever approach the authority to get a handle on the real truth? or can you just say what ever you want?
Normally the media will contact the expropriating authority to get the other side of the story. The results seldom sell newspapers however. All expropriating authorities must conduct their activities according to statute, so there isn't much new to say. If for some reason you feel you are not being treated fairly, retain a competent lawyer. Using the media to assert one's position is seldom productive.
