The land in front of our commercial building has been expropriated by the Region of York, Ontario. They took possession of the entire front lawn in September 2009 and have a temporary easement right up to the front door. The work on the road widening has not started yet and they want 2 more years on the temporary easement.
The region says we are still responsible for the lawn maintenance on this expropriated property with no chance of compensation. How can we be responsible for property maintenance of property we no longer own?
The answer to your question might depend upon the terms of the expropriated easement. It sounds like you should be seeking advice from a lawyer at this point.
