Even though I -hate- MelloxNear, to me both pairings make sense after a long debate about it I had with Meg last night.

For MelloxNear, it would make a lot of sense 'cause of subtle hints in the anime/manga ( Not so sure about the manga since I haven't gotten there yet... )
But either way, like when Mello said he was leaving Wammy's, Near kinda pulled a face. Or when Mello wanted his picture back he pulled it from his pocket with the words " Dear Mello " written on the back.
And I agree with Akane with her fanfiction ( At least I think it was Akane since Linda was in it. ) on a MattxMello pairing in which it was mentioned that Near carried Mello's picture around -everywhere-.
And also that it seems that he wanted to write more but couldn't find the words or something.
And the biggest thing, that'd kinda lie under everything about the pairing like Mello would be nothing without Near, and vise versa. They compliment and complete each other.
Y'know.
Things like that...

For the MattxMello pairing, like said previously, it's easy since Matt isn't shown much and when he is, he's usually interacting with Mello or doing something he most likely told him to do.
As well since he practically died for Mello.
Really it's adorable.
Also, this pairing as well has subtle hints about it in the manga/anime.

Like in the manga, Mello asked Matt how he was and after being returned with an ' I'm bored ' he kinda dismissed it. ( At least I think that's how it went. )
And also how Mello apologized after seeing Matt's death which doesn't seem very Mello like...
And I guess in a way Mello and Matt compliment each other as well.
Matt's kind of playful, from what I've seen. ( Especially from his death. ) And Mello's kinda.. Boo.

But either way...
I guess it's all in a matter of who you like and what's cuter. xP
Since they both make perfect sense.
