Metro 2 match report - vs Easts (round 2)

East 0 - 1 Mt Gravatt

Hawks went into this game knowing that Easts would be keen to avenge their 9-0 reverse in the 1st round. And they certainly made a game of things.

While Paulie Peterson's goal was rarely threatened, Easts had plenty of the ball early on and made it incredibly difficult for Hawks to maintain any rhythm.

Easts were fortunate not to have conceded a penalty midway through the first half as Lukey Bowness was clumsily floored in the box after a shove in the back. The referee turned away despite some vigorous flag waving from his assistant.

A goal from Matty 'All class' Pearce off a corner on the stroke of half time was the only difference between the sides when the final whistle blew.

It wasn't a vintage performance from the Hawks but at times there were flashes of brilliance that Easts simply couldn't contend with. The passing and movement (particularly in tight areas) cut the Easts defence to shreds.

Next up Brighton.
