united irishmen

Hi Joe
My family are Presbyterians from the County Down community. I cant believe that I never heard of the rebellion in the eighteenth century. They just didnt teach us that part of Irish history at school I guess which is a great shame. Are there any registers of members of the United Irishmen, I would love to know if any of my ancestors were involved?
Cheers Jonathan

Re: united irishmen

Hiya Johnathan, !798 when Protestant, Catholic and Dissenter "united to break the connection with England" was a great era of our country's history, If you look up local history books they should reveal names of who were locally involved at the time.
A book you should look up is "Betsy Grey and The Hearts Of Down".
