Yes, and which caused great consternation when to poor thing died. What wonderful things surprised us in those days. It being Christmastime, my 12 year old step-grandson just purchased a pair of $200 (Aust) sunglasses with money he was gifted. Unimaginable. I can remember getting a Cinderella Watch, a doll and pram and 'selection boxes' which was great for that era. With the techno era now, its hundreds of dollars for a gadget, then, the stuff that makes it 'go better'.

I remember the wee chicks.. but they never lived beyond a few days. How lucky were we then our parents would quietly dispose of these impossible pets and substitute it with a completely different interest. Like being taken out to Fuscos or Malachy Morgans for ice cream and icecream sodas.

Do you remember the wee Windmills the rag man use to give the kids for rags.?.... funny enough kids today can still be seen with the same wee windmills, they are one little toy that hasn't changed.
