I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting the photographs of the Naval Memorial in Plymouth. My Mum wanted to locate the name of her uncle who died when his ship sank in 1941 and, thanks to your excellent photographs, we were able to do so. |

Thrilled to find a site with people from Wivenhoe!! My grandmother was a daughter of Cardinal Nathan SAINTY, who was a son of William James SAINTY and Louisa Elizabeth WADE. I researched information from Wivenhoe (prior to seeing this site) and have photos of some of the entries and have been endeavouring to put the pages with the names (on my tree). I have found some entries which do not appear to be on your site - would you be interested in these? Regards, Val |

Thank you for the pics of each panel. My relative was named on panel 46, column 1. It was very special to see their name there. |

I used to live at 32 caroline place as a child along with my parents and 2 brothers, quite a few years ago I must admit. The photos of it are exactly as I remember, although the remains of number 31 have been tidied up. What is not apparent from the photos is the fact that these houses looked like normal 2 stories from street level, but in fact had 2 further levels below at the rear as part of the house and then a much lower open section where we kept chickens. |

Norman Davey went down with his ship HMS Coventry in September 1942. He was married to my 2nd cousin Winnie from Plymouth area. His records are with the Ministry of Defence and are not available to me. I never knew Norman but it does amaze me that I feel such a close bond with him. Naturally then you may understand the sadness I felt for him- going down with his ship in 2500 meters of water in the Mediterranean Sea (bombed by German planes)- and not even a mention anywhere- until I found the War Grave site and then the Plymouth Naval Memorial- and then your pictures! Thank-you for your worthwhile effort. I feel much better knowing he is memorialized- and Plymouth is a longgggg way from here. Linda |
