Internet--Looking for Indian group that might be interested in the white fawn

Comments:

I saw an albino fawn on split rock road in Boonton Township just before Lyonsville road. It was crossing the road with two other fawns (possibly 2-3 months old) with I presume the mother. They all looked healthy and curious about the car.

Ittimokla (Greetings) Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Indians of New Jersey,

My name is Shamuw'El Abraham of the Yamassee Nation.
I am just curiously perusing through this wonderful site to research my Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Roots. Possibly Green or Woodyard surnames.

Sincerely,

Good day to all. My children are registered Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape members and I'm wondering if there is a way to partake in the naming ceremony from Indiana or if you have to be in NJ for the ceremony. I married into the family and have only been to NJ in regards to the family when we buried my then grandmother-in-law, Mary Pierce.

I have been wanting to get back but haven't had the time or the funding but am hoping to take the kids to their roots eventually.

I also have Indian on my side, Cherokee, as my dad was from Boston but I don't know how to trace it since, as far as I know, all of his brothers and sister are gone.

I wish you all well and any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I am in search of a way to connect with Lene Lenape historians to find out if our ancestors stories are true. My maternal Grandmothers side has Toms name. We were told that an Edward Toms married an Indian and hence Toms River was named after him. But, history tells different. He could have spelled his name in th 1500's 1600's Thoms, Toms

Google search for Chief Suncloud

Comments:

I am the 10 great granddaughter of Chief Suncloud (born 1645) and Queen Redwing (also born 1645) Unami Lenni-Lanape around Tom's River area. I was looking for more information on him to place in the information section of my family tree---perhaps tribal stories or something of that nature. Their daughter, Ann Suncloud, married Thomas Luker and went on to have further generations. Some of those generations continued to marry Native Americans of other tribes to the point that my great grandfather was just over 50% (His father, James Elmore Comalander was given land from the Cherokee Tribe in Pensacola, Fl in the early 1900's, but that land went back to the tribe upon his death). I am wondering if perhaps there are some resources I can check out that would give me more of an idea of where I come from. On my mother's side, I'm all European, but until now I've had no way to find out about my native american ancestry.

My wife Deborah is American of jewish/Russian descent. I'm American of Romanian-German-Irish and Welsh descent. We were married more than 20 years ago by Charles "Wayandaga" Pierce at Parvin State Park near Centerton, NJ. "Grandfather" as we knew him was a close friend of my brother, Ted Perian. He met him in Elmer, NJ, where he was a part-time police officer. My wife and I later me him and became very close to him and visited him at Fox Chase Cancer Center and later at his funeral at his home in Lincoln Falls, Pa. Are the Pierce's in your website related to the Charles "Wayandaga" Pierce that my wife and I knew and loved?

How did you find us?

I am searching for confirmation of my ancestor.

Comments:

I am hoping someone will read this who might have an answer for me.
My mother was a Herbert from Herbertsville/Point Pleasant. My ancestors graves, including Penelope Stout and so many others, are in almost every cemetery from Middletown, Shrewsbury and Freehold to Toms River; from Clarksburg and Jacobstown to Point Pleasant.
Before she died she told me that we had Native American descent. I did extensive research, but could never find who in her line it was until today, when I found a single comment from another descendant of Eliakim Wardell, as I am,(he is my 4th Great Grandfather). I have known that his wife, like his name's sake ancestor from MA, was named Lydia, but I could never find a last name for her. Then, today, I came across a reference in a history book saying she was the daughter of a Lenape chief or elder from the 'Metetecunk' area. It is ironic that we spent decades of our summers in Metedeconk at 2 Third Street, just down a mile from the Gravelley Graveyard where the Wardell's are buried, including Lydia and Eliakim, and didn't know they were our family until I researched and found it out.
If anyone can confirm or refute this information about Eliakim and Lydia Wardell, please contact me as it is very important to me and my children to know they are part of such important history. Ancestry . com has not given me that answer though they have been of invaluable help otherwise.
Thank you.
Richard Clarke
