Passing of Larry W. Gire Crew-3 OPC

I am sorry to report to our brotherhood that Larry Gire passed away September 1, 2007. Larry, the author of " Wings of Gold Over the Ho Chi Minh Trail " , the story of VO-67, had been ill for sometime. Larry, the OPC of VO-67 Aircrew 3 , received several personal military awards for his heroism and piloting skills during combat missions over the HCM trail in 1967-68.
The VO-67 brotherhood will not forget CDR. Gire.

Re: Passing of Larry W. Gire Crew-3 OPC

Several members of the VO-67 Brotherhood attended Larry's memorial service. CDR. Lefty Nordhill, CDR. and Mrs.Bill Albers, CDR.Alex Alexander, CDR Doug Donohue,Kerry Bignall and Bob and Sharon Reynolds. The service was very nice and a fine tribute to a great man.
We were very surprised when Larry's VO-67 squadron brothers attendance was announced that we received a standing ovation from everyone. What an honor!

At the end of the end
It's the start of a journey
To a much better place
And this wasn't bad
So a much better place
would have to be special
No need to be sad

On the day that I die, I'd like jokes to be told
And stories of old to rolled out like carpets
That children have played on
And laid on while listening to stories of old

At the end of the end
It's the start of a journey
To a much better place
And this wasn't bad
So a much better place
would have to be special
No reason to cry
