Quick stop in Errachidia - pleasantly surprised

Just wanted to share a quick thought about a place I don't see mentioned much on here. We were driving from the dunes back towards Fes and needed somewhere to break the journey that wasn't just another highway stop, so we decided to spend a few hours in Errachidia. I'll be honest, I hadn't done much research on it beforehand and was half expecting just a functional provincial town but it actually had a really laid-back feel that was a nice contrast after the intensity of the desert. We wandered down by the river which was way greener than I imagined, loads of palm trees and people just relaxing by the water, felt very peaceful. I'd come across a bit of info on Unique Travel Morocco before we left that mentioned the Ziz Valley nearby and that's what made us consider stopping, glad we did because the drive through the gorges approaching the town was stunning. I know it's not high on most people's lists but if you're passing through and want to see a slice of everyday Moroccan town life without any tourist hassle, errachidia morocco is worth a couple of hours of your time.
