THANK YOU! This story has give me back the strength that I need. My fiance got hit by a car a week ago and he is in a come, exactly same prognosis as Kimmie. The doctor told us today that he wont be able to have a functional life and I\'m devastated, but I DO BELIEVE in our LORD and he is the one that will deicide what will be the outcome of this situation, meanwhile I have faith.

An update! How are things now, 10 years later???

My stepdaughter was in a severe accident 15 months ago. TBI, coma for an extended period. She has gained back soooo much. Your site was so helpful right after the accident, and I revisited it now to see how Kimmie was doing at this point.

Inspirational! I am a tbi with shearing survivor from a seizure and subsequent fall. About a month or so in a coma...not much hope,but here I am, Hope this works!

My brother in law has suffered from a TBI in a motorcycle accident in Bali, Indonesia. He is 38 and a loving father to 2 beautiful children and an excellent husband to his loving wife.

It been 9 days since the operation and his GCS score is 8. We are all praying that he should recover soon.

Your website and Kimmie story has given us great courage and hope in this despairing moment.

After 30+ years I talked to her Mother (Mar)y last night and she told me about it.

Kim, I was that guy who packed you, Tom and your Mom into that U-Haul truck and moved all of us to Topeka Ks ( I think it was 1979 ). I have thought of the three of you often over the years! You were a strong little girl way back then and I can see that you have an amazing story and continue to be strong, determined and a fighter. I was so happy to talk to your Mother and find out all about you and Tom. Congratulations on recently making it back into the classroom, that was a very BIG Inflection point in your recovery process and an amazing goal to be marked off as achieved...... girlfriend found site while researching TBI

My son suffered TBI on February 22nd, we to were told that he may not make it through the surgery, and if he did he may never wake up. We were told that he had severe brain shearing.

He has woken up and is now in rehab at the Shephard Center in Atlanta. He has regained his cognitive skills, answers yes/no questions and reads off alphabet board.

Such an inspiring story. I hope nothing but continued progress for Kimmie :)My sister is in a deep coma stemming from a ruptured cerebral aneurysm (TBI) 12/31/2011. Dr.'s are giving her a 5% chance of waking up. I respect their input, however they are not the final decision makers. It is in God's hands and I believe that he will heal her <3 Reading Kimmie's story has given me even more hope than I already had. Thank you for sharing her story with me.

A friend told me about this story. My 29 year old Daughter, Mother of 2 small girls, suffered severe head trauma following a car accident. This happened on June 19, 2011. It is now July 10, 2011. She is just the last couple of days starting to wake up. We're trying to get her into a rehab in Santa Clara California. They told us she wasn't quite ready for the rehab yet, so we were looking at a sub accute place. She's made so much progress in the last couple of day's that we're hoping to by-pass the sub accute, and go straight to rehab. It's the weekend now, so we have to wait until Monday to talk to the assessment team to re-evaluate her. Your prayers would be welcomed. I guess my brother in law has been communicating with you about my daughter. I am also on facebook. I'm trying to keep notes on her progress, but me being her Mom, it's hard to keep up with things. I've been living at the hospital, at my daughters side. Thanks for Kimmie's story. We've shared it with others as well. Patty

This is an incredible blog... My friend's 19 year old son was in a car accident on March 30 and has a diffuse axonal injury with shearing and brain stem injury. We have used so many of your information links to read and find out more about his injury. He was in a coma for 3 weeks with similar responses to Kimberly and is now in rehab and doing very well. Thank you so much for sharing your neices story... it provided hope and information and we appreciate all of your efforts!

Reasearching TBI

My nephew was in a car accident on April 3, 2011 and this is the first time I have been able to understand what is going on with him. This also the first time I have had hope that there is a chance he will get better. Thank you sooo much and may God Bless.

i had a severe car accident on Aug,12, 2010 and was in a comma for 6 weeks. I have a TBI and am in recovery. My brother found your site and said I should check it out.

It is inspirational to read aqbout someone that went through the same thing I'm going through. I was a police officer for 14 years' but i fear those days are behind me. I'm in a dark place, and it is inspirational to read about someone coming so far back. you may not know it, but you have provided me with encouragement to work hard in my recovery. Thank you.

I posted earlier in the year when my wife Yvonne was in very bad shape. It's a pleasure to say that she's home since July, she's working hard at the rehab here at home!

I last posted on Jan 30. Things looked mighty grim back then. Today my wife is doing much better! Much of her memory and language are back and she starts acute rehab next week in Toronto to rebuild her strength!

A friend's daughter had the same injuries and when all seemed hopeless your website suddenly gave everyone such hope. It was as if God said "everything is going to be okay". They are in day 14 and we pray for the same miracle that you "kimmie" has been blessed with. Thank you so much for sharing your story.

On Jan 27 2010, my wife was very badly injured in a collision with a Cement truck. Her car lost control on black ice. She remains in St. Mikes in Toronto in a coma. Doctor called it diffuse brain injury with microhemmoraging due to shearing injury. And we're all falling apart here, her kids and I are just in so much pain.
