\"Five Hundred Days of VO-67\"

Soon time will erase memories of all who know the story
Of what Sky Sailors did in Laos, with undaunted glory
VC gunners found it easy to send some to heaven
Twenty were lost from VO-Sixty-Seven

The Screaming Green Neptune\'s flew steadily on
In search of the trucks and supplies for the Cong
Laying their buoys in a perfect straight line
Making history in warfare, the first of it\'s kind

Tracers looked like ribbons, ablaze in the sky
But not one brave crewmember thought he would die
Alas, fate is the hunter, and to some made a call
They gave as much as they could, some gave it all

Remember the Phantoms, how they stood on their tails
They tried to protect us with the help of the Nails
Sandys and Jollys were scattered about
In case they were needed to get our butts out

The buzz of the mini guns expending their load
Jets roaring, wings flexing, were bugging the road
Red earth below us, bad guys running round
The buoys are talking, what a beautiful sound

For five hundred days VO-Sixty -Seven made history
Why their tale was not told still remains a big mystery
Just memories and brotherhood is all that remains
When they faced the guns in those Screaming Green planes

Those Special Green Neptune\'s are all gone from this earth
But the men who flew in them are aware of their worth
They took them to places that young boys do dream
But the realties of war aren\'t as clear as they seem

Old men together after all the long years
Laughing and hugging and shedding some tears
Was it all worth it, did they do any good
Did some die for nothing, they did the best that we could

We honor our heroes in those screaming green planes
Etched in our memory and souls are their names
I know it was worth it, the things that they did
It saved many soldiers, to come home to their kids

In the fall of 1976, I was a test pilot at NADC Johnsville in Warminster, PA. Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara, contacted Johnsville to develop a method of tracking trucks coming down the Ho Chi Minh trail in Viet Nam. I was assigned a project to drop sono bouys in trees surrounding the base. Flying an S2F Tracker and accompanied by an ordance man, we developed the capability of dropping them exactly where we wanted them. Then I took it into P-2V7 Neptunes and dropped them in the Smokey Mountains. At the completion of the project, A top secret meeting was called by the Commandant of NADC. It was at that meeting that I met my old commanding officer from VP-28, as he was introduced as the Commanding officer of this secret new squadron, Capt Wally Sharp. Thanks to all of you that made that mission come true.

My Brother, Richard Ober, was a member of VO-67. Just wanted to inform you that he passed away last week. How do I go about getting information on his medals, etc to his family? He was such a great keeper of secrets that I\'ve only just learned of his involvement with VO-67.

Ahoy,
I\'ve connected with some of you a couple of times and left a post on the VO-67 Guestbook page 2.
I have updated details of Tommy\'s DoD and Gravesite location.

I\'m hoping some of you might know if Tommy\'s family has ever been notified of his VO-67 service,
which I became aware of long after his passing in 1988. He never breathed a word about it.

I would like to have a listing of his awards, my search on Ancestry.com shows four Air Medal Awards 30 JULY 1968; 19 APRIL 1969; 9 MARCH 1970;
7 AUGUST 1970.
Can you tell me if he also earned the USMC Combat Aircrewman Wings as shown on the VO-67 website?

I had hoped to get some information from a close mutual friend from our years together in Imperial Beach in the 70s, but just learned he too has passed away.

If you have any photos of Tommy to share, or any sea stories I would appreciate it.

Respectfully,
Stephen \"Andy\" Andruszkewicz

Hello from Jose!
I\'m still alive and living in San Diego with my daughter (it\'s her email address I\'m using). I retired from the Navy in 1980 and began working civil service on Coronado until 2007 or thereabouts. My two daughters keep close track and care of me and we make annual trips to Hawaii so we can visit Barber\'s Point (where I was stationed multiple times and Iroquois Point (where the girls grew up). If there are any shipmates out there who are in the San Diego area and would like to get together to say hi, please reach out using my daughter\'s email. Her name is Yvette.
Yours truly,
Jose

\"To those who have fought for it, Life has a flavor that the protected will never know!\"
Between mortars, rockets, RPGs, booby traps and bullets, there was no safe place in for a soldier in Vietnam.
Remember your Christmas in the Nam? Mine was spent on an ambush patrol near the Cambodian border.

I found a picture of Crew 10 hanging in our Reserve Center in St. Louis and decided to look into the history of the squadron. Very interesting story. Thank you for your service to our country.

Would like to know if anyone from Crew 10 would be willing to share their contact information. I would like to speak to the two Chief Petty Officers of the crew if that would be possible.
